Homeownership Block Party a Huge Success

Central City community members were invited to a Homeownership Block Party hosted by Jericho Road. The Block Party provided an opportunity for interested homebuyers to talk to Jericho Road staff members as well as Jericho Road homeowners.

Jericho Road Executive Director Brad Powers said, “The response from the community was very encouraging. Community members were able to ask questions and receive valuable information from us while getting to see what a Jericho Road home looks like in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.”

Guests enjoyed free food by Da Grill and music by Old School 102.9 as they toured a Jericho Road home and learned more about homeownership opportunities in Central City. Over 70 contact sheets were filled out by potential homebuyers that attended the Block Party.

Jericho Road has added two young professionals to their team. Jan Koszewski, who was awarded a fellowship through the Grinnell Corps, and Lisa Kamuf, a University of New Orleans student doing an Independent Study with Jericho Road, are both contributing their time and effort to Jericho Road.

We look forward to working with them and showing them the great work Jericho Road is doing in this community empowering people to reach their dreams.”

He will also help with the development and maintenance of multimedia presentations, mapping progress of targeted neighborhood development and coordinating with neighborhood organizers to name a few.
