In 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, leaving families displaced, homes destroyed, and communities fractured. Out of that crisis, Jericho Road Episcopal Housing Initiative was born with a clear mission, to help rebuild not only homes, but also the strength and stability of neighborhoods across Southeast Louisiana.
Now, 20 years later, Jericho Road continues to stand alongside families, ensuring that the lessons of Katrina fuel long term resilience and opportunity. Over the past two decades, we have built and rehabilitated hundreds of affordable homes, trained residents in workforce skills, and equipped families with the tools for financial stability.
The 20 for 20 Challenge is our way of honoring this milestone. Each of our board members has committed to raising $1,000 and recruiting 20 new donors, one for each year since Katrina. Together, these gifts will power Jericho Road’s housing, workforce development, and financial wellness programs, creating thriving communities where families can live with dignity, stability, and hope for generations to come.
By joining this challenge, you become part of a movement that remembers the past, invests in the present, and shapes the future. Your gift is more than a donation, it is a statement that families in New Orleans deserve safe homes, stable futures, and communities that thrive.
