At Jericho Road, community isn’t just something we build, it’s something we live. This spring, we are proud to celebrate two young people who have grown up as part of our extended family. As the children of longtime team members, Miya and Michael have spent their lives surrounded by community leadership and transformation, and we’ve had the joy of watching them grow and succeed.
Miya, whose mother, Kim Washington, serves as Jericho Road’s Director of Asset Management, graduated magna cum laude from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts in Documentary Filmmaking. She is now continuing her creative journey as a Spike Fellow at The Gersh Agency in Beverly Hills, California, where she will further develop her storytelling skills in the entertainment industry.
Michael, whose father, Michael Robinson, serves as Jericho Road’s Lead Community Organizer, graduated from Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans and will attend the University of New Orleans this fall, where he plans to major in Finance with a pre-law focus.

Reflecting on her connection to Jericho Road, Miya shared:
“Jericho Road and NDF have imbued me with the meaning of home and family. Through these relationships, I have deepened my understanding of community by witnessing home revitalization projects and seeing how beautification and collaboration can transform neighborhoods through art, renovation, and embracing innovation.”
“Our entire team feels like family, and watching Miya and Michael grow up and succeed has been a joy for all of us,” said Nicole Barnes, Executive Director of Jericho Road. “Their achievements remind us that our work is not just about building homes, it is about building futures.”
As part of the Jericho Road family, we celebrate Miya and Michael’s success as a reminder that when communities invest in young people, the possibilities are endless. We are excited to see how they continue building stronger communities wherever their journeys take them.
At Jericho Road, we believe every young person deserves the chance to build a bright future. Our work supports families, builds community, and helps create opportunities for the next generation across Southeast Louisiana.
