This spring, Jericho Road has been busy strengthening relationships across Southeast Louisiana through a series of community events focused on partnership, learning, and expanding access to resources. These gatherings are more than outreach, they are opportunities to listen, connect, and build the trust that makes our work possible.
Our community engagement took us to neighborhoods and parishes throughout the region. We kicked off the season with Council District B’s Quarterly Neighborhood Clean-up on April 5 in the Delassize and Livaudais areas, where volunteers collected 20 discarded tires and cleaned up Van McMurray Park. That same day, we joined the Faubourg Livaudais Neighborhood Meeting, where residents discussed the transition to Delta Utilities as the new gas provider for Orleans Parish and explored local historic preservation efforts.
In Central City, we partnered with Central Circle for events like the Senior Luncheon at Ashe Cultural Arts Center on April 9, connecting seniors from four city centers with healthcare providers for wellness education and community-building.
In Jefferson Parish, we participated in the Healthy Homes Spring Celebrations, meeting with families at Johnny Jacobs Gym on the Westbank and Williams Playlot Gym on the Eastbank to share resources about housing preservation, home repairs, and workforce development.
Our spring wrapped up with the Mental Health Awareness Month Resource Fair at Broadside, hosted with Tulane’s CALM Center, and the Faubourg Livaudais Historic Sign Dedication on May 18, where we joined State Representative Royce Duplessis and Recirculating Farms for a produce giveaway and community celebration honoring the founder of Dillard University.
Through each of these events, Jericho Road deepened its commitment to building stronger, more connected communities. By consistently showing up, listening, and sharing resources, we are working alongside residents to strengthen neighborhoods, create affordable housing, and promote long-term stability for families across Southeast Louisiana.
We look forward to continuing this work in the months ahead as we engage even more residents and communities.
