Continuing Our Mission Across Southeast Louisiana
Published: July 23, 2025

Dear Friends,
I’m honored to share this message as we publish Jericho Road’s first newsletter since before the COVID-19 pandemic. So much has changed, but our mission to build thriving, resilient neighborhoods across Southeast Louisiana remains as strong as ever.
This year, we reflect on two major milestones: the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and the founding of Jericho Road in its aftermath. Born out of crisis and rooted in hope, our work today continues to be shaped by that legacy. As we commemorate this moment, we also look ahead to Jericho Road’s own 20th anniversary in 2026.
We honor the families whose strength and resilience continue to inspire us and guide our work.
Today, Jericho Road’s impact stretches across the region. This year, we completed 19 new affordable homes in Terrebonne Parish in partnership with the Louisiana Office of Community Development and Louisiana Housing Corporation. These homes offer safety, stability, and a lasting sense of belonging for families proud to call them home.
At the same time, the housing affordability crisis is deepening. Rising insurance costs and reductions in federal and philanthropic funding are making it harder to meet the growing need. Still, our commitment is firm.
Rooted in justice, dignity, and hope, we are working to ensure every family has access to safe, affordable housing and the opportunity to thrive.
This newsletter highlights stories that show what’s possible — from Ms. Houston’s new home to workforce development projects and neighborhood events. These efforts are only possible because of our dedicated team, strong partnerships, and the trust of the communities we serve.
To our supporters, partners, clients, and the Jericho Road team, thank you. Your belief in this mission helps transform vision into action and houses into homes.
As we approach our 20th anniversary, we are excited to deepen our impact and reimagine what’s possible for housing and community across Southeast Louisiana.
We invite you to stay connected and continue this work with us.
With deep gratitude,
Nicole Barnes
