The Skinny Newsletter – October 2020

Dear Friends,

I am grateful for your support of Jericho Road’s work in 2020 thus far! It has been a challenging year for us all because of the coronavirus pandemic. I am sure at this point we’re all missing in-person interactions and events, especially in a community like New Orleans, where we thrive based on social gatherings. At Jericho Road, we have encouraged each other by responding with kindness and patience as we go through our personal challenges during COVID-19. As a team, we are committed to staying safe and mentally healthy as we serve the New Orleans community.

During the COVID-19 global pandemic, many New Orleanians’ housing security has been lost or is in jeopardy. In the midst of the economic shutdown, halts and cancellations resulting from COVID-19 crisis, our team at Jericho Road has doubled our efforts to provide our clients and the community with financial wellness education, affordable housing opportunities and information regarding COVID-19 resources.

Jericho Road is dedicated to the continuation of providing programming and information that positively impacts and supports New Orleans residents during this unique and challenging period. To celebrate Homeownership Month in June, we hosted a virtual Homeownership Summit. From our monthly Central Circle stakeholder meetings, individual financial coaching, and our homebuyer workshops, our Housing Outreach and Community Engagement teams have continued to provide their regular activities through virtual platforms. Additionally, we have also created the “Top 5 at 5”, a daily e-blast that provides critical information regarding COVID-19 resources and assistance.

Jericho Road is striving, daily, to innovate and adapt our programming and services to best accommodate communities across New Orleans in these uncertain times. We continue to look towards the future by providing opportunities that create economic equity, the cornerstone of thriving communities.

Thank you for your continuous support of this vital work!

Please stay safe and well,

Nicole Barnes

Executive Director
