Workforce Development

Jericho Road’s Workforce Development program was developed to create and increase upward mobility for underemployed community residents by providing accessible avenues to education and career training outside the traditional educational system that lead to high-paying jobs.

Jericho Road’s Workforce Development program addresses two major issues facing the New Orleans Metropolitan area today: a lack of access to affordable housing and the second being a lack of career focused job training opportunities, especially for minority residents and those who fall into the low-income brackets.

Our program addresses these issues by offering on-the-job construction and carpentry training, while teaching financial literacy and soft-skills, such as resume-writing and interviewing. Through our partnership with the Louisiana Workforce Commission, JOB1 and Delgado Community College, participants receive classroom education on the fundamentals of construction and are able to take exams for nationally recognized certifications such as; NCCER, MC3 and OSHA10. Program participants have access to financial literacy coaching to support their financial mobility.

Upon graduating from the Workforce Development program, our participants have the opportunity to join Jericho Road’s construction crew full-time which will allow them to fulfill the mission of developing affordable housing throughout the New Orleans metro area while continuing to hone their skills on our construction sites. They can also work with one of the larger competitive construction companies locally and eventually become entrepreneurs with their own contracting businesses.
